Inflammation can occur throughout your entire body. It’s not necessarily just when you sprain your ankle or get a bruise. Internal inflammation can occur without you knowing and can cause more harm than benefits over time.
This is why anti-inflammatory medication is present today, to alleviate those ailments that cause your body to swell up. However, you don’t always need to take a pill to get the benefits of an anti-inflammatory.
Many of the foods you encounter act as a great natural anti-inflammatory. Pair this with all the other benefits of healthy foods such as antioxidants and vitamins and you may soon be inclined to throw away that pill bottle and pick up a basket of berries!
In an article written by Brierley Horton for Better Homes & Gardens, she lists the Top 8 foods you need to introduce to your diet to see anti-inflammatory benefits. Atop that list are berries; blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and cranberries. These super-fruits have been proven to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease which is largely caused by chronic inflammation.
Going down the list you can see foods like whole grains, matcha (similar to green tea) , walnuts, pomegranate, green vegetables, seafood, and olive oil.
